Like he played great at college, but he stunk at the NBA. Sorta like a "Ryan Leaf" for basketball, if you know what I mean.

He was a BEAST in college, good enough to be taken ABOVE Michael Jordan in the '84 draft. Most people say that the bulls would have preferred Bowie over Jordan in the draft as well, but what a BUST!!!!

Kwame Brown was another big bust but he was just a high-school kid so we'll cut him some slack.

Bowie was picked before Jordan. And Darko went before D-Wade, Melo, and Bosh. i think they are the biggest disappointments

Sam Bowie...picked ahead of Jordan...what a mistake and has to be biggest bust or at least biggest draft f**kup...See this link below I found...I'm not the only one who thinks so...the book is still out on Darko but it does suck that they passed on Carmelo for that guy. I think it's still too early to call Kwame a bust..he was improving this year until his injuries. He needs to hit the weights and get a lil bit bigger.

I think it was Christian Laettner. At least, for me.

Darko is a good player. Way better then Candy (for example). He just should have been chosen by number 8 or 10. So, it was just Dumars' mistake. Do not blame this guy too much. Blame Detroit management. He was not that good in Europe. I do not know why Detroit loved him so much.
Darko never went tocollegeand people only say Bowie because of the comparison to Jordan. How about Ed O'Bannon? Player of the year, final four mvp, leader of the '95 national champion Bruins and out of the league in 3 years having averaged 6ppg, then 4, and finally 3.5 in his final year.

Bowie's career was considerably longer and more fruitful: in ten seasons Bowie had a 10.9ppg/7.5rpg career average.
